TELUGU BHASHA DINOTSAVAM

Sri Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu was an ardent advocate of the usage of simple Telugu language in Andhra Pradesh. He was a linguist and spoke many languages fluently. It was Sri Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu who laid emphasis on conversational Telugu to narrow down the gap between the lettered and the unlettered masses. His birth anniversary was celebrated on 29 August 2022 as Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam. It commenced with the garlanding of the photo of Sri Gidugu Ramamurthy Panthulu by the honorary Correspondent Mr. G. V. Bhaskar and the Principal, Mr. M. Mahesh.
Smt. R. Chandra Kala, Smt. B.Vara lakshmi, Smt. E. Sujatha and Smt. N. Uma Rani were the teachers from the Telugu Department who spoke about the significance of Telugu language and the honour it deserved. They lauded the contributions of Sri Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu for the promotion of the Telugu language in the form it was spoken by the masses. They said that he was not only one of the earliest modern Telugu linguists and social visionaries but also championed the cause of using a language comprehensible to the common man as opposed to the heavily sanskritized language employed by the scholars.
On this day, all the students tried to speak Telugu without using English words. While the students were communicating in their mother tongue, they learnt Telugu meanings of English words like bus, geometry, chocolate, escalator, washroom etc.
Smt. Ch. Samrajyam conducted a questionnaire for all the students. She revealed the answers to the students on the next day in the School assembly.
The venue, Babuji hall, was decorated with the photos of Sri Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu and the renowned poets, writers and reformers of Telugu Literature. In view of this occasion, various activities reciting Telugu poems, Essay writing, Telugu calligraphy competitions were held as a prelude to the Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam.
The honorary Correspondent, Mr.G.V. Bhaskar and the Principal, Mr. M. Mahesh gave merit certificates to the winners who showed their proficiency in Telugu essay writing and recitation competitions.
