The school organized an educational trip for the students of class VI and VII to

Ramayapatnam beach on 5 Aug 2018. The students gathered at 7 am at DRRM Municipal

High School in Nellore bus stand in Ongole. 225 students participated in the programme.

The Ramayapatnam port is located at a distance of 57 kms from Ongole in Prakasam

district of Andhra Pradesh. It is 4.5 kms away from NH-16 and connected to NH-15 at

Thettu. It is a tiny beach resort, a tourist destination and a natural sea port since the days

of the British.

There is a lighthouse at the beach. The height of the lighthouse is nearly 37 meters and

the place around it is well maintained, pleasant and worth watching. The climb is close to 7

floors. There is no lift but the steps are easy to climb. The last part of the climb is a little

tricky. The steps end in a cabin with an iron ladder leading to the top of the lighthouse

through a trap door. Once we reach the top, our eyes suddenly meet the breathtaking view

of the vast sea and coastline and a gush of the sea breeze brushes across our face

leaving us in awe for a moment.

The students enjoyed themselves jumping, playing, climbing on to the short trees under

the close supervision of the school staff. They also played various games like Kabaddi,

football, softball, tennicoit, shuttle, Volleyball and tug of war in the premises of the AP

tourism quarters. Later they all reached the lighthouse by walking along the beach and

enjoyed the sea breeze. The students were allowed to climb to the top of the lighthouse through the stairs and

viewed the beautiful vast scenery of the sea and its surroundings enthusiastically and

were briefed about the significance of the lighthouse.

The trip to Ramayapatnam was an enjoyable outing for all the children, the lighthouse

experience being the highlight of the trip. This trip gave all the students a new experience

and feeling of good association and intimacy with their teachers and they all returned

home with delight and glow on their faces.
