Fresh Blossoms in the Sai Garden 2009

Dear Reader

With the blessings of Sri Sai Baba and our beloved school founder, Sri Babuji, we joyfully bring you the Silver Jubilee Edition of "Fresh Blossoms in the Sai Garden", our sixth magazine issue so far, combining events and articles from this year and last.

Putting together this edition has been more than just fun and hard work. Tracing the history of this great institution, learning about its achievements in the past, and listening to the alumni sharing their experiences of their much loved school has been a heart-warming and great learning experience for all.

This year's issue has articles not only on the various events such as Science Day, Maths Day and Telugu Day, along with a slew of paintings and poems, but it also gives you a glimpse of the spectacularly successful Science Exhibition and the experiences and achievements of the students in the National Children's Science Congress. The magazine takes on a sentimental tone in the section dedicated to our first batch of CBSE 10th Class students, which includes a description of their Farewell Ceremony. This year too, we bid a fond adieu to another batch of fine 10th Class students.

But what is special about this issue is that it takes you back in time to 1983, when the school consisted of just a few classrooms, and on to the present high-tech, richly-equipped, ever-growing institution of the 21st century – a journey through 25 years of dedicated service to the cause of education. We also look forward to the next 25 years and settling into our super new green campus.

Over the years, although the school has undergone large structural changes, the soul of the institution, and its motto "love of learning and learning to love", have remained the same. The school has always believed in a holistic approach to teaching and has encouraged students to think independently and creatively. The result of that approach is reflected in this magazine. The vision with which the school was founded can be seen unfolding in these pages. As you skim through the magazine, you will notice a development in the writing styles of the students and that they have written on various new and original topics ranging from the mysterious Nazca Lines in Peru to a personal meeting with a judge from New Zealand.

Another highlight of this issue is an informative article by Mr. Christopher Burgess, the architect of our new school (lovingly known as Sir Arthur Cotton Jr. of Saipatham!). In this article he elucidates the unique aspects that make our new school a Green School! We are all excited about the implementation of innovative and environmentally friendly features, such as solar panels for electricity, a natural air cooling system, rainwater harvesting and re-cycling, light shelves, etc, not to mention spacious grounds, LCD projectors, air-conditioned Multimedia Room, Dance and Art Studios, and a global video monitoring system…

We are inspired by our students' achievements over the last two academic years – and in all the 25 years since 1983! We hope you enjoy leafing through the pages of our Fresh Blossoms.
