Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)

CBSE has introduced a new system of evaluation (CCE) for IX and X Classes. The evaluation system covers all aspects of a student’s development, both scholastic (e.g. academic subjects) and co-scholastic (e.g. life skills, values, ECA, etc).

X Class CBSE students in Secondary Schools are now evaluated by a combination of internal assessment and the Board exam:

Formative Assessments must include many ways of testing children, not just pen and paper exams. This includes projects, assignments, quizzes, debates, dramas, etc. The aim is to assess the student’s development in a wide range of areas, which are relevant to the global challenges and skills race of today. These are all graded and count towards the final results. The changes that CBSE are implementing are holistic, will bring more variety into children’s education and prepare them well for the future.

CCE Being Introduced into VI, VII and VIII Classes

The new CCE system was introduced into IX Class during 2009/10 and is now to be extended into VI, VII and VIII Classes.

The CCE system will be functioning fully through these classes by the next academic year. At Saibaba Central School we are already training students in the writing of projects and other types of Formative Assessment.

Our current Semester system fits well with the new exam pattern, as shown above for X Class. Only the weightage of exams will change. At present we take 25% for Unit Tests and 75% for Semester Exams. Next year it will be 40% and 60% respectively.
